An iphone can save your life
American filmmaker Dan Woolley was filming a video about economic struggles in Haiti when the huge earthquake hit. He should have perished, but he ended up surviving with the assistance of an iPhone first aid app called Pocket First Aid and CPR that showed him how to tend to his severe wounds. After being literally crushed by a pile of rocks and concrete, Dan used his camera to light up his surroundings and take pics of the wreckage and looking for a safe place to rest. He found a safe area in an elevator, where he read the app and learned how to ‘MGyver’ a bandage and tourniquet for his wounded appendage and to also restrict bleeding from a head trauma.
The app also cautioned Woolley not to sleep if he felt he might go into shock, so he set his phone’s alarm clock to alert him every twenty minutes. Over 60 hours later, a French based search and rescue team found him. You may not be an iphone person, but this makes one wonder if an iphone may have more uses that we realize!
